Posted July 20, 2018 14:27:54 Australia’s government will spend $400 million to build a wind turbine off the coast of the country’s east coast, with the first one expected to be ready by the end of 2020.
The project is part of a $1.8 billion investment to improve Australia’s energy security and provide the country with the “best-value” renewable energy for the first time in a decade.
The wind farm, on the eastern coast of Western Australia, is one of two proposed for the state, along with a new gas-fired power station to be built in the state’s central west.
It is expected to generate about 100 megawatts of electricity.
The first turbine will be the largest of its kind in the world.
