The UK has a problem with snowmobile schools.
The country’s only school for them is run by the local council, and they’re not doing a good job of teaching the equipment.
A new snowmobile park has opened up in Glasgow, the first of its kind in the country, but its owners are keen to prove that snowmobiles are safe to ride.
How they got started 1.
The problem The idea came from a family in Dundee.
They had built a snowmachine and were planning to set up a school for its pupils.
When they saw the school, they decided they would put their first snowmobile there.
The students The school is in a quiet village, in a remote part of the county.
They’re not the only ones who have had problems with snowmobilers.
In 2013, a woman in her 60s was injured by a school snowmotive while she was out on the back of it, while it was being set up.
The vehicle broke down on the road, but the school and its students survived.
The lessons The children don’t want to be at school in the snow, so the school runs an all-day lesson on how to use a snowmotor, using simple equipment such as a skateboard and a sled.
But the lesson doesn’t work.
When the children try to ride their new school snowmobile, they’re frustrated and angry.
Their parents are concerned about the safety of the children and worried about what their children will do in the winter.
“I’ve seen kids come in with helmets on, but they get knocked off their sleds.
They’ve got their hands in the air and are trying to get back in the sled.
They don’t understand how the system works, they don’t know how to do it properly, they just don’t trust the system,” says Sue, a mother of four who is also the chair of the snowmowrers’ union.
The backlash The National Snowmobile Association (NSMA) is angry that the school’s owner has failed to address the concerns raised about the school.
“It’s been so long since the last snowmobile crash, the kids are not really interested in learning about it.
It’s just a waste of money,” says Sarah, the group’s general secretary.
The NSMA’s concerns are echoed by the head of the Scottish Snowmobile Club, Richard Smith.
“The school has been run as a snowmobiler school for over a year, and it has been very well managed.
The school has a very good snowmobile and snowmowing staff, but it’s not been managed to the same level,” he says.
But there are others who think the lessons don’t go far enough.
“When the kids come to school, it’s almost like they’ve gone out of their minds.
They think the snow is too heavy, and the snow has turned the village into a lake.
It makes them think they’re stupid and don’t care,” says one of the school snow mowers.
But, as long as the school is run as snowmower school, that doesn’t seem to be the case.
The council has been inundated with complaints about the park, with parents contacting the school to complain.
One mother who has a daughter in the school said the lessons are “not the best”.
“I think there’s a bit of a lack of focus and not enough time to teach them how to operate the equipment properly.
They might not know how, they might not be able to do the basic things, they can’t learn the basics, they’ve been asked to leave the school when they’ve tried,” she says.
She has also spoken to the head teacher about the lessons, and he says the school has made changes, including offering two separate lessons per day for both children and adults.
But she says it is the school who needs to fix the issues first.
